Asaduddin Owaisi Slams PM’s RSS Praise as “Insult to Freedom Struggle”

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi strongly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day remarks lauding the RSS, calling it “an insult to the freedom struggle.” He argued the Sangh had not participated in India’s fight for independence and even opposed Mahatma Gandhi more than the British.

Glorifying RSS Crosses the Line

Owaisi expressed this view via social media, reacting to Modi calling the RSS’s century of service “a very proud and glorious page” during his Red Fort address. Owaisi questioned the appropriateness of such praise from the nation’s highest platform, stating, “If Modi felt proud as an RSS swayamsevak, he could have said so from Nagpur—not the Red Fort as Prime Minister.”

Rejecting Exclusive Nationalism

Owaisi further criticized the RSS’s ideology, accusing it of rejecting the inclusive nationalism that inspired India’s freedom fighters. He warned that ignoring true history risks elevating cowardice as valor. “Learn real history and honour real heroes,” he urged.
