Apple to Open 4 New Stores in India, Launch ‘Made in India’ iPhone 16 Pro

Apple is set to significantly expand its footprint in India with the announcement of four new retail stores and the introduction of its first-ever ‘Made in India’ iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models. This move highlights the tech giant’s growing focus on the Indian market, as it aims to boost its retail presence and local manufacturing capabilities.

Expanding Retail Presence in Major Cities

Apple plans to open new retail stores in Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai, adding to its existing locations in Delhi and Mumbai, which were launched in April 2023. The new stores are expected to be operational next year, offering more opportunities for customers to explore Apple’s range of products and services.

Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, expressed excitement over the expansion, stating, “We’re thrilled to build our teams as we plan to open more stores in India because we’re inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across this country. We can’t wait for them to have even more opportunities to discover and shop for our amazing products and services.”

‘Made in India’ iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max

In addition to the retail expansion, Apple has announced that it will begin selling the ‘Made in India’ iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models this month. The devices will be manufactured locally, marking a significant milestone in Apple’s strategy to diversify its production and strengthen its supply chain resilience.

Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017 and has steadily increased its local production capabilities. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will be produced not only for the domestic market but also for export to select countries, supporting the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

“Manufactured in India iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will soon be available for our local customers and for export to select countries across the world,” Apple said in a statement, emphasizing the importance of local production for both domestic sales and global distribution.

A Strategic Move for Growth in India

With India emerging as one of the fastest-growing markets for premium smartphones, Apple’s strategic expansion through new retail outlets and locally produced iPhone models is expected to attract more customers and increase brand loyalty. By establishing a robust presence in major cities and aligning with the government’s push for local manufacturing, Apple aims to make its products more accessible and support economic growth.

Sources suggest that supplies of the high-end ‘Made in India’ iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models will be available for purchase later this month, catering to the rising demand for Apple’s premium products in India. As the company deepens its commitment to the Indian market, Apple’s focus on both local and global audiences positions it as a key player in the country’s tech landscape.
