Andhra Pradesh Offers ₹100 crore for Nobel Win
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced a ₹100-crore reward for anyone from the state who wins a Nobel Prize in quantum science or quantum computing. The announcement was made as part of a broader push to develop quantum technology and research ecosystems in the state.
The incentive is meant to encourage young scientists and researchers to pursue cutting-edge work in quantum fields and to position Amaravati as a global hub for advanced technology. This prize aligns with the government’s new Quantum Vision plan that aims to create a comprehensive quantum ecosystem including research, training, and manufacturing.
Vision for Quantum Research and Skilling
Naidu said the reward is not just a cash prize, but a signal of the state’s ambition to become a leader in next-generation technology. The government plans to build the Amaravati Quantum Valley, strengthen quantum skilling programmes for students and researchers, and attract investments. Officials highlighted ongoing partnerships and initiatives to train a large workforce in quantum science and create high-value jobs in the sector.
The prize will be available to individuals from Andhra Pradesh whose Nobel-winning research in quantum science was conducted in the state, according to the announcement. The initiative has sparked interest among scientific communities and youth eager to participate in deep-tech research.
