Amit Shah Sends Teams to Flood-Hit Northern States

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Jammu on Sunday evening and announced the deployment of Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) to assess the widespread damage caused by monsoon floods. The teams will cover Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab. Each team is headed by a Joint Secretary-level officer and includes officials from ministries such as Jal Shakti, Rural Development, Agriculture, Power, Roads and Highways, and Expenditure.

High-Level Review and Aerial Survey

On Monday, Shah chaired a high-level meeting at Raj Bhawan in Jammu with senior civil and security officials to review the situation. He is scheduled to undertake an aerial survey of severely affected areas, including Katra and Kishtwar, and will also inspect flood damage to border infrastructure along the International Border.

Central Support Under PM’s Directive

The Home Ministry said that rescue operations are ongoing with support from the NDRF, army, and air force. Central officials remain in close coordination with state authorities to ensure timely relief. The government stressed that it stands “shoulder-to-shoulder” with affected states in tackling the crisis and restoring normalcy.
