Amazon To Invest $13 Billion In India AI Infra
Amazon has announced an additional $13 billion investment in India to expand its artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure by 2030, strengthening its long-term bet on one of the world’s fastest-growing digital markets.
Amazon India AI Investment
The fresh investment will support the expansion of Amazon Web Services infrastructure in India, with a focus on data centre capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad. The company said the move will help startups, enterprises and government organisations access advanced cloud tools, AI services, custom chips and developer platforms.
The announcement follows Amazon CEO Andy Jassy’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. With the latest commitment, Amazon’s planned India investment between 2026 and 2030 stands at $48 billion.
AWS Data Centres In India
Amazon said its AI and cloud infrastructure investment in India will now exceed $21 billion for the 2026-2030 period. The company is positioning India as a major market for AI workloads, cloud computing and data localisation.
AWS already serves several Indian companies, startups, banks, education firms and government-linked platforms. The expanded capacity is expected to support growing demand for AI model development, secure cloud storage and enterprise digital transformation.
Amazon India Business Expansion
Alongside cloud infrastructure, Amazon is also expanding its retail and logistics operations in India. The company plans to open more than 20 fulfilment centres and over 100 last-mile delivery stations this year.
Amazon has also announced a welfare programme for delivery associates, including education scholarships, insurance support, access to government benefits and expansion of rest centres.
India Cloud Infrastructure Push
India has attracted major global technology investments as demand rises for AI computing, data centres and digital services. Amazon’s latest move adds to the country’s growing profile as a cloud and AI infrastructure hub.
