All 140 MLAs Are Mine, Says DK Shivakumar Amid CM Buzz

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Friday dismissed speculation about internal groups forming within the ruling party, asserting that “all 140 MLAs are my MLAs.” His remark came amid renewed discussion over leadership dynamics in the state Congress and whether a change in the Chief Minister’s post could be considered in the future.

Shivakumar Stresses Party Unity

Responding to questions from reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar said he did not believe in factional politics and insisted that he considers every Congress MLA part of a unified team. His statement is being viewed as a signal of both his influence in the party and his attempt to reinforce internal cohesion at a time when chatter around succession is growing.

Siddaramaiah Responds To Remarks

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah later reacted to Shivakumar’s comments, saying there was no need for controversy and that all leaders were working together for the state. He reiterated that the government was stable and that leadership matters were the domain of the party high command. Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have long been seen as the two power centres in Karnataka Congress.

Internal Dynamics Remain Under Watch

The Congress holds 135 seats in the 224-member Assembly, giving the party a comfortable majority. While there is no official indication of any leadership change, political observers note that the statements by senior leaders reflect underlying tensions that periodically surface. The party’s national leadership is expected to maintain the final say on any future transition.
