Air India Flight Aborts Takeoff in Delhi
An Air India flight bound for Kolkata was forced to abort takeoff at the last moment on Monday due to a technical issue. The flight, numbered AI2403, was preparing to depart from Indira Gandhi International Airport when the cockpit crew detected a fault during acceleration and immediately stopped the aircraft from leaving the runway.
The aircraft involved was an Airbus A321, carrying approximately 160 passengers.
Passengers Safe, Flight Rescheduled
All passengers were safely deboarded and escorted back to the terminal. Air India confirmed that the aircraft was brought to a complete stop without incident and that engineers were assessing the technical issue. A replacement flight was arranged later in the day, and refreshments and assistance were provided to the stranded passengers.
Concerns Over Repeat Incidents
This is the second Air India incident involving a technical issue this month, raising concerns over operational consistency. While aborted takeoffs are standard safety procedures in aviation, the frequency of such occurrences has prompted aviation observers to call for a review of maintenance checks and protocols.
Safety Reviews Expected
Regulatory agencies are expected to examine the incident and may initiate a broader review of the airline’s engineering procedures. Industry experts note that while the crew followed safety protocol and avoided any injuries, repeated ground-level technical snags can erode public confidence and require strict corrective action.
