
Air India Express Returns to Vizag After Bird Strike
An Air India Express flight, IX-2658, from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad was forced to return shortly after takeoff on September 18, 2025, following a suspected bird strike. The aircraft had taken off from Vizag airport at 2:38 pm with 103 passengers on board when the pilot detected engine trouble about 10 nautical miles from the airport.

Acting quickly, the pilot sought permission for an emergency landing and brought the plane back safely to Vizag at around 3:00 pm. Airport officials said the crew followed all safety protocols and ensured that passengers remained calm during the procedure. The situation was handled efficiently, preventing any panic.

Airport Director S. Raja Reddy confirmed that all passengers were unharmed and deboarded safely. The airline has assured travelers that alternative arrangements, including rescheduled flights and refunds, are being provided.
