Air India Crash Report Finds Intentional Engine Shutdown
An investigation into the Air India AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad has concluded that the aircraft’s engines were intentionally shut down by the pilot, according to a report from Italian daily Corriere della Sera.
Air India AI-171 Crash Investigation Findings
The report stated the aircraft lost thrust after both engines were manually turned off shortly before impact. Investigators said there was no indication of mechanical malfunction, structural failure or external interference prior to the loss of power.
Flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder information formed the basis of the findings.
Pilot Actions And Flight Data Analysis
Analysis of cockpit parameters showed the engines were shut down sequentially during the final stage of flight. Investigators reviewed switch movements, control inputs and system responses to determine the sequence of events.
The inquiry concluded the shutdown originated from actions within the cockpit rather than technical faults.
Aviation Safety Measures After Crash
Authorities recommended strengthening monitoring procedures and pilot evaluation mechanisms to enhance operational safety. Regulators and airline officials are expected to review procedures and implement safety checks based on the conclusions.
Further compliance measures may follow as part of aviation oversight processes.
