The most serious outcome of the crash was the death of the pilot and co-pilot. Several passengers and at least two people in the fire truck were also injured, though reports indicated there were no passenger fatalities. Emergency teams rushed to the scene and some injured people were taken to hospital, while other passengers were evacuated from the aircraft after the collision.

LaGuardia Airport Closes After Runway Accident

The crash led to the temporary shutdown of LaGuardia Airport and caused major disruption to flight operations. Incoming traffic was diverted while authorities began emergency response and investigation work. Early reports said the fire truck had been responding to another incident and had been cleared to cross the runway shortly before the collision. Investigators are now expected to examine runway procedures, air traffic control communication and weather conditions to determine how the accident occurred.
