AIIMS Finds No Link Between COVID Vaccines and Deaths
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has said there is no scientific evidence linking COVID-19 vaccination to sudden deaths among young adults. The clarification comes amid public speculation and misinformation suggesting a possible connection between vaccines and unexplained fatalities in people under 40.
AIIMS officials said the findings are based on a detailed analysis of reported cases of sudden death and available medical data. According to the study, most of the deaths examined were associated with underlying health conditions, genetic predispositions, lifestyle factors, or undiagnosed cardiac issues, rather than vaccination.
Vaccines Declared Safe by Experts
Medical experts involved in the research reiterated that COVID-19 vaccines approved for use in India underwent rigorous clinical trials and continue to be monitored through post-vaccination surveillance systems. They said vaccines have played a crucial role in reducing severe illness, hospitalisation, and deaths during the pandemic.
Doctors also warned that attributing sudden deaths to vaccines without medical evidence could fuel unnecessary fear and vaccine hesitancy, undermining public health efforts.
Call to Rely on Scientific Evidence
AIIMS urged the public to rely on verified scientific studies and expert advice rather than unsubstantiated claims circulating on social media. Health authorities said further research into sudden cardiac deaths is ongoing, but stressed that current data does not support claims of a vaccine-related risk.
The institute reaffirmed that COVID-19 vaccination remains safe and effective, and encouraged eligible individuals to follow recommended immunisation guidelines.
