Afghanistan Says Pakistan Only “Unhappy” Neighbour

Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, appointed by the Taliban government, said that among the country’s six neighbours, five are satisfied with their relations, and Pakistan is the only “unhappy” neighbour. He made the comment during a statement Monday, emphasising that Afghanistan does not seek conflict with any country.

Border Tensions

The remarks come amid renewed border clashes between Pakistan and Taliban forces. Pakistan has accused Afghanistan of sheltering terrorists, while Kabul denies such claims. The ongoing tensions have led to closures of major crossing points and military standoffs along the frontier.

Diplomatic Message

Muttaqi’s statement appears aimed at projecting a diplomatic posture of peace and regional goodwill, while singling out Pakistan for criticism. It underscores the deep strain in bilateral ties between Islamabad and Kabul, even as Afghanistan seeks to maintain generally positive relations with its other neighbours.
