Afghanistan Drones Hit Pakistan Kohat Military Fort

Afghanistan carried out retaliatory drone strikes targeting a Pakistani military installation in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, marking a sharp escalation in tensions between the two neighbouring countries. Afghan officials said the operation was launched in response to recent Pakistani airstrikes inside Afghanistan that reportedly caused civilian casualties.

Afghanistan Drone Strike On Kohat Fort

Afghanistan’s defence authorities said the drone operation targeted military installations of the Pakistan Army in the Kohat area, including the Kohat military fort. The facility is considered an important command and operational centre along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region. Afghan officials claimed the strike caused damage to parts of the fort and nearby military infrastructure.

The drone strike was presented by Kabul as a retaliatory move following Pakistani air attacks on Afghan territory earlier in the week.

Retaliation After Pakistani Airstrikes

The escalation follows Pakistani military airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Kabul and Kandahar regions that Afghan authorities say killed civilians and damaged infrastructure. Pakistan has maintained that those strikes were aimed at militant camps and hideouts linked to anti-Pakistan insurgent groups.

Afghanistan condemned the strikes as a violation of its sovereignty and warned that it would respond appropriately, which officials say led to the retaliatory drone operation against the Kohat installation.

Rising Afghanistan Pakistan Military Tensions

The exchange of strikes reflects worsening relations between the Taliban-led government in Kabul and Islamabad. Both countries have accused each other of allowing militant groups to operate from their territory, leading to repeated border clashes and military operations.

The latest drone strike highlights the growing risk of direct military confrontation between the two countries, with cross-border attacks and retaliatory actions increasing in recent months. Analysts say continued escalation could destabilise the already tense security situation along the Durand Line and across the wider South Asian region.
