Afghan MP Rebukes Pakistan’s Proxy War Remark
Former Afghan MP Mariam Solaimankhil has strongly responded to Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif after he accused Afghanistan of being part of an “India-led proxy war.” She said Pakistan never truly hosted Afghans but instead “milked them for billions, global relevance, cheap labour and geopolitical leverage,” adding that Afghans “paid the price” for Pakistan’s survival.
Asif’s Allegations Against Kabul
Khawaja Asif recently alleged that Afghanistan is serving as a proxy for India, suggesting that New Delhi’s influence in Kabul has grown. His remarks come amid rising tensions between the two neighbours over border clashes and militant activity.
Escalating Diplomatic Tensions
Solaimankhil’s sharp rebuttal underscores the worsening strain between Kabul and Islamabad. Analysts say the spat reflects not only bilateral hostility but also the larger regional rivalry involving India, which Pakistan frequently cites in its criticism of Afghanistan.
