Adani, Embraer Sign MoU on Aircraft Manufacturing

Adani Defence and Aerospace and Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore aircraft manufacturing opportunities in India. The partnership aims to develop a domestic ecosystem for regional aircraft production in line with India’s push to strengthen its aviation manufacturing capabilities.

Scope of the Collaboration

Under the MoU, the two companies will assess the feasibility of setting up final assembly lines for regional transport aircraft in India. The collaboration will also cover supply chain development, maintenance and repair services, training, and gradual localisation of components. Officials said the focus would be on building long-term manufacturing capacity rather than limited assembly operations.

Strategic Significance

The agreement aligns with India’s broader goal of becoming a global aviation manufacturing hub and reducing dependence on imports. Adani Group is expected to leverage its existing infrastructure and aerospace investments, while Embraer will bring technical expertise and experience in regional aircraft programmes.

Both companies said detailed plans, including investment size and facility locations, will be finalised after further studies. The MoU does not commit either side to immediate production but sets the framework for future collaboration.
