AB de Villiers on Rohit Sharma’s RCB Move: “Highly Unlikely”

Amid rising speculation about Rohit Sharma’s future at Mumbai Indians (MI), former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star AB de Villiers weighed in on the debate, suggesting it is highly unlikely that Rohit will switch teams. Fans have been vocal about the situation ever since Hardik Pandya took over as MI captain, fueling talks about Rohit possibly entering the upcoming mega auction.

De Villiers: “No Possibility of Rohit Leaving MI”

Responding to a fan question on his YouTube channel, De Villiers expressed his disbelief at the prospect of Rohit joining RCB. “Wow! Imagine the headlines if Rohit moves from Mumbai Indians to RCB. It would be a story bigger than Hardik Pandya’s move back to Mumbai,” he stated. However, he quickly dismissed the idea, adding, “I don’t think there is an option there. I do not see a possibility of MI leaving Rohit. I would give that a zero or 0.1 percent chance.”

MI Coach Boucher Also Uncertain About Rohit’s Future

Adding to the uncertainty, MI Head Coach Mark Boucher mentioned that discussions around Rohit’s future at MI have been minimal. “To be honest, there haven’t been many conversations about Rohit’s future at all. I spoke to him just to do a review of the season. For me, he’s a master of his destiny,” Boucher shared.

Boucher acknowledged that the upcoming IPL 2024 auction will be crucial and hinted that more clarity on Rohit’s situation could emerge closer to the event. “It’s a big auction next season. Who knows what’s going to happen? We’ll just have to take each day as it comes,” he added.

The ongoing discussions have kept fans and experts on edge, as Rohit Sharma’s future with the franchise remains one of the most anticipated topics ahead of the next season.
