Bollywood actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan recently organized a special screening of his latest film Sitaare Zameen Par for President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Following the screening, the President’s official X handle shared an image with the message: “Acclaimed filmmaker and actor Shri Aamir Khan called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.” Aamir was seen dressed in a simple white kurta paired with blue jeans and boots for the occasion, maintaining his trademark minimalist appearance.

Sitaare Zameen Par

Directed by Raja Sharma, Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual successor to Aamir Khan’s 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The film tells the story of a basketball coach who is suspended from his position and ends up training a group of specially-abled children for a state-level tournament. It weaves together themes of resilience, inclusion, and empowerment with emotional depth and humor.

The film features Genelia Deshmukh alongside Aamir, with a powerful ensemble of ten specially-abled newcomers including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. Each of these debutants brings authenticity and emotional resonance to their roles.

Critical Acclaim and Social Impact

Sitaare Zameen Par premiered on June 20 to warm receptions from both the public and prominent figures. Sudha Murty, who also viewed the film ahead of release, described it as an “eye-opener” and praised its message of neurodiversity and empathy. At the film’s grand premiere, several Bollywood veterans and celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Rekha, Vicky Kaushal, Juhi Chawla, and Asha Bhosale were in attendance, showing strong support for Aamir’s mission-driven storytelling.

The film is an official remake of the Spanish film Champions (2018), and was directed by R. S. Prasanna with a screenplay by Divy Nidhi Sharma. Filming took place across Mumbai, Delhi, and Vadodara.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, the movie’s heartwarming content has struck a chord with audiences. In just four days of its theatrical run, it reportedly grossed over ₹105 crore globally on a budget estimated at ₹100–₹120 crore.
