7 Children Killed in Rajasthan School Collapse

At least seven students died and 29 others were injured when the roof of a government school building collapsed in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on Thursday morning. The incident took place around 8:30 a.m. at the Piplodi Government School in the Manohar Thana area, during the morning assembly.

Rescue Operations and Casualties

Local authorities confirmed that more than 40 children were present in the school when the roof suddenly caved in. Rescue teams rushed to the site and pulled out trapped students from the debris. Some students were declared dead at the hospital while others are being treated for injuries, with two reported to be in critical condition.

Poor Infrastructure Raises Questions

Residents and parents have alleged that the school building was in poor condition for a long time. Complaints regarding structural issues had been made to local officials, but no action was reportedly taken. This incident has brought renewed attention to the neglect of basic infrastructure in public educational institutions.

Government Response

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and promised a thorough investigation. He also directed authorities to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured and review the safety status of other school buildings in the region.
