60 Schools in Delhi & Bengaluru Receive Bomb Threats

A wave of panic swept across educational institutions in Delhi and Bengaluru on Friday morning after more than 60 schools received bomb threat emails. Authorities responded immediately, evacuating students and staff while bomb disposal squads conducted extensive checks.

In Delhi, nearly 20 schools were impacted, while around 40 private schools in Bengaluru, particularly in RR Nagar and Kengeri areas, received similar threat messages. Emergency services were activated across both cities.

Chilling Warnings in Threat Messages

The emails contained threatening language, with lines such as “not a single soul will survive” and “you deserve to suffer.” The senders claimed that explosives had been planted within the premises and that TNT devices were hidden in the buildings.

Police have stated that these threats appear to be hoaxes, but added that such incidents are not being taken lightly. The scale and timing of the threats have raised concerns about coordination behind the messages.

Bomb Squads Clear All Premises

Bomb disposal teams and fire services conducted searches at all the affected schools. No explosive material was found at any of the locations. After inspections, authorities declared the buildings safe and allowed operations to resume gradually.

Investigation and Cyber Tracking Underway

Cybercrime units have begun tracing the origin of the emails. Investigators are analysing the email headers and technical data to identify the senders. Police officials confirmed that legal action would be taken under strict provisions of the law for spreading panic and issuing false threats.

Pattern of Recurring Hoaxes

This is not the first instance of coordinated bomb hoaxes in India. Since early 2024, several states have reported similar threats targeting schools, airports, and public venues. While none have resulted in actual explosives being found, security experts have warned about the psychological impact on children and the repeated misuse of digital platforms.

Police Appeal for Calm

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and follow verified information from official channels. Schools have been advised to review security protocols and ensure quick communication channels for emergency response.
