312 Indian Fishermen Return From Iran Via Armenia
A fresh group of 312 Indian fishermen stranded in Iran has returned to India through Armenia, in the latest evacuation effort amid ongoing regional tensions. External Affairs Minister S. Indian Fishermen Evacuated From Iran
The latest batch adds to India’s continuing efforts to bring back citizens caught in the fallout of the conflict-linked disruption in Iran. The return of these 312 fishermen comes about a week after another 345 Indian fishermen were evacuated from Iran, showing that the operation is being carried out in multiple phases as authorities coordinate movement from affected areas.
Armenia Helps India Evacuation Effort
Armenia has played an important transit role in the evacuation. Jaishankar publicly thanked Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and the Armenian government for their support in enabling the fishermen to travel safely back to India. The route through Armenia has emerged as a practical channel for moving stranded Indians out of Iran during the current period of instability.
India Brings Back Stranded Nationals
The evacuation highlights the Indian government’s wider effort to assist citizens facing difficulty abroad due to conflict and transport disruption. Fishermen working in Iran and nearby waters have been among those affected by the regional crisis, with travel and local movement becoming more complicated as tensions escalated.
Why The Fishermen Return Matters
The return of another large group of Indian fishermen is significant because it reflects both the scale of the disruption and the ongoing diplomatic coordination required to bring citizens home safely. It also underlines the importance of India’s ties with regional partners such as Armenia when emergency evacuation routes are needed in volatile situations.
