31 Naxals Eliminated in Major Operation
In a major success for India’s internal security apparatus, Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed the elimination of 31 Naxal insurgents in a sustained anti-Naxal operation on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. The offensive, carried out over 21 days in the Kurraguttalu Hills region, has been described as the most decisive and extensive crackdown on Naxal strongholds in recent years.
Naxal Free Bharat
The operation, which began on April 21, 2025, was conducted jointly by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Special Task Force (STF), and the District Reserve Guard (DRG). It targeted a highly fortified Naxal base in Kurraguttalu Hills — an area long regarded as a core operational hub for top Maoist units such as PLGA Battalion 1, DKSZC, TSC, and CRC. This base was previously used for strategic planning, cadre training, and weapons manufacturing.
Security personnel executed the mission with remarkable precision, navigating through dense forests and rough terrain without suffering any casualties. The operation led to the destruction of four Naxal weapons production units and the dismantling of 216 hideouts. A vast stockpile of arms and explosives was seized, including over 450 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 818 BGL rockets, and 899 bundles of Cordex detonators — dealing a crippling blow to the Naxals’ firepower.
Kurraguttalu Hills Operation
The forces also established a helipad and base camp in the region, ensuring logistical support for future actions. With the tricolour now flying over territory once synonymous with insurgency, the government sees this as a clear step forward in its resolve to ensure national integrity.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the courage and strategic excellence of the forces involved:
“Achieving a historic breakthrough in the resolve of #NaxalFreeBharat, security forces killed 31 notorious Naxalites in the Kurraguttalu Hills on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border in the biggest ever operation against Naxalism.”
Amit Shah Statement
Shah emphasized the symbolic victory, stating that a hill once drenched in red terror now flies the Indian national flag. He reiterated the government’s commitment to a final resolution:
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, we are determined to root out Naxalism. I once again assure the countrymen that India is sure to be Naxal-free by 31 March 2026.”
This decisive strike is being seen not just as a tactical win but a political and psychological one, reinforcing the state’s dominance over anti-national forces and furthering the vision of a peaceful, Naxal-free India.
