2.06 Crore Voters Left Out of Maharashtra Draft Roll
More than 2.06 crore voters have been left out of Maharashtra’s draft electoral roll following the Special Intensive Revision, accounting for 21.14% of the state’s previous electorate. Election authorities stressed that eligible voters whose names are missing can still apply for inclusion before the final roll is published.
Maharashtra Draft Roll Has 7.71 Crore Voters
The draft electoral roll currently contains more than 7.71 crore electors, representing 78.86% of Maharashtra’s previous voter base of around 9.78 crore.
The draft includes approximately 3.95 crore male voters, 3.75 crore female voters and 3,087 third-gender electors.
A total of 2,06,88,487 names were not included after enumeration forms could not be collected or verified during the revision exercise.
Over 2 Crore Names Left Out After SIR
Election authorities said the uncollectable forms included voters who could not be traced at their registered addresses, had shifted residence, were deceased, had registered elsewhere or appeared as duplicate entries.
The category also includes voters who declined to complete and submit their enumeration forms.
Pune recorded the highest number of uncollectable forms at around 28.6 lakh, followed closely by Thane at 28.5 lakh. Mumbai Suburban recorded about 26.5 lakh such cases.
Missing Voters Can Apply for Inclusion
The draft exclusions are not necessarily permanent.
Eligible voters whose names are missing can file claims between August 31 and September 30. Form 6 can be submitted for inclusion, Form 7 for objections and Form 8 for corrections to details such as name, address, age or gender.
Electoral registration officials will process claims and objections through October 29, with Maharashtra’s final electoral roll scheduled for publication on November 4.
