161 Gelatin Sticks Found Near Almora School

Police in Uttarakhand recovered 161 gelatin sticks weighing over 20 kilograms from bushes close to a Government Higher Secondary School in Dabra village, Sult area of Almora district. The discovery was made after the school principal spotted suspicious packets and immediately alerted authorities.

Police Teams Secure The Area

Two police teams reached the location and cordoned off the surroundings. A bomb disposal squad and canine units from Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital were called in to conduct a detailed search. Additional packets of gelatin sticks were found nearly 20 feet away from the first location. These explosives are typically used in mining and road-cutting activities.

No Terror Link Suspected Yet

Senior Superintendent of Police Devendra Pincha stated that the initial investigation does not indicate any terror-related link. Officers suspect the explosives may have been left behind by a contractor engaged in nearby road construction work. A case has been registered under the Explosive Substances Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Probe To Trace Source And Responsibility

Four investigation teams have been formed to identify who placed the explosives near the school and why they were stored in an unauthorised manner. Police have tightened security in the area, and local residents have been advised to remain cautious until the inquiry is completed.
