10 Fall Ill At Karnataka CM’s Puttur Event

At least ten people, mostly women, fell ill during a public programme attended by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Puttur on Sunday. Police and health officials linked the incident to delays in food distribution and the hot, overcrowded conditions.

What Happened At The Event

The programme, held at Puttur Taluk Stadium under the banner “Ashoka Jana Mana 2025,” drew a large crowd. Authorities said delays in serving meals and distributing items led to dehydration and weakness among participants.

Medical Response

Ten women reported health issues. Three required intravenous fluids, while the others were treated on an outpatient basis. Officials confirmed that all the affected individuals are now stable.

Overcrowding And Heat

According to police, a stampede-like surge occurred when food distribution finally began. The lack of drinking water, combined with humid conditions, worsened the situation. Ground conditions were also muddy due to prior rains, which added to the chaos.

Follow-Up Action

The district administration said it would ensure proper arrangements like drinking water and shaded areas for future events. Organisers have expressed regret over the incident and assured corrective steps.
